The rating of 50 largest pharmaceutical companies was published in the “Pharmaceutical Executive” according to the results of 2016. The companies were estimated by the volume of sales of prescription drugs and by the investments in scientific development (R & D).
According to the rating, “Pfizer” clearly ranks first for the second year in a row. The company is leading in terms of sales of prescription drugs ($ 45.9 billion). The best-selling are pneumococcal vaccine “Prevenar 13” ($ 5.7 billion), anti-epileptic “Lyric” ($ 5 billion), immunosuppressant “Enbrel” ($ 2.9 billion). In investment in R & D, “Pfizer” shared the first place with “MSD”. For scientific research in 2016, companies spent $ 7.8 billion and $ 9.8 billion, respectively.
The second place occupied by pharmaceutical company “Novartis”. The sales of prescription drugs were estimated $ 41.6 billion.
The “Roche” is on the third place with sales of prescription drugs $ 39.6 billion. The “Ferring” is at the bottom of the rankings among of 50 largest pharmaceutical companies with sales of prescription drugs $ 2.1 billion.
The “Pharmaceutical Executive” notes the structure of the rating almost did not change compared to last year, but the profit of some companies from the list fell.
