The representatives of HypoCat, Swiss-based Company, inform that they have developed special vaccine for animals that makes cats hypoallergenic.
The vaccine is specifically designed for the cats and attempts to train the immune system of cats to attack a specific protein, or allergen called Fel d 1, that the cats naturally produce. It is exactly this protein that causes the allergy in human.
The studies were conducted on a total of 54 healthy cats. All cats under test demonstrated the immune system reaction and became hypoallergenic for human. The developed vaccine had NO detrimental effect on animal health.
The scientists want to conduct a series of clinical studies after that the vaccine will become available on the market. The development of the Swiss researchers is useful both for human and pets as very often the pets are thrown into the street or sent to a shelter because of allergy.
