1. BE PROACTIVE IN WORK AND IN PROVISION CARE TO PATIENTS
Many believe that one of the main reasons why it is difficult for the students to embark upon a career is that the set of skills obtained in an educational institution cannot be always applied “in the field “, i.e. at the counter. Besides, students in high educational institutions are rarely accorded autonomy, while independence in making decisions is essential quality of front-line pharmacist. This skill is not so easy to acquire, and the only way is to be brave, but always act in the interests of patient.
2. POLISH UP YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS
As a pharmacist you are a translator from sophisticated language of doctors into generally understandable “human” language for your clients. And it often requires extraordinary patience: pharmacist has not only to interpret pharmacological intricacies to the visitors but also to be able to listen attentively without interrupting visitors under any circumstances. The more effectively you could interact with others, the easier it will be to turn from a student into a pharmacist.
3. DEVELOP THE SENSE OF SELF-WORTH AS PROFESSIONAL
Many patients wrongly underestimate pharmacists. Don’t let ignoramus to make you change your mind: pharmacology is taught only several semesters at most of medical faculties, while you have devoted a full course of study to this interesting science (and, in the long term even the whole life). And who is more professional here? A sense of self-worth (quite deserved) will give you the necessary confidence.
4. CONTINUE TO LEARN AND TO GROW
You have chosen an extremely dynamic field as in the field of pharmacology something happening every day: innovative preparations are being developed and registered, new research data about interactions and adverse events are being emerged, and new approaches for treating various diseases are being published.
